*Mobility & the Workforce:  Mark your calendar for Friday, July 16 @ noon, for the CVCC’s ‘Lunch & Learn’ event this month, which features Latitude 34 Technologies’ computer expert, Paul Avolio, who will present “Mobility in the Workforce: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly About Virtual Offices & Working on the Road.”  The one-hour discussion also includes best practices for the non-technical road warrior & more, to be held @ the Carpinteria Woman’s Club, 1059 Vallecito Rd.  RSVPs are a must!  Send an email to maxine@carpinteriachamber.org or phone 684-5479x10 NLT July 14.  The program is FREE, just bring your own lunch, beverages provided.

*Creek Clean-Up Day:  The Carpinteria Creek Watershed Coalition & the City of Carpinteria invite you to join the work party to clean-up Franklin Creek, Santa Monica Creek & Carpinteria Creek, on Sat., July 24.  Grab your sunscreen, plenty of water, work gloves & a hat & meet other volunteers @City Hall, 5775 Carpinteria Ave. @ 9 am, to divide up into groups.  Plan to wear closed toed shoes, also.  No matter how long you can help, any amount of time is appreciated.  The effort will be concluded around noon.  Contact Erin Maker @ erinm@ci.carpinteria.ca.us, or call her @ 684-5405x415 for more information/questions.

*Celebrate Cajun Country:  CVCC members and guests are invited to a ‘Business-After-Hours Mixer,’ on Wed., July 28, 5:30-7:30 pm @ Rabobank, 5030 Carpinteria Ave.  Members pay only $5 admission & non-members, $10.  Wear New Orleans styles…blue, purple & yellow.  Check out the tasty goodies, network with the business community.  Questions…. call Maxine @ (805) 684-5479x10 any weekday.

*The 2010-11 Destination Guide is Here!  If you need copies of the newly issued CVCC “Destination Guide & Business Directory,” stop by the Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce office, 1056-B Eugenia Place, to pick up extras to display at your business. The office is open 9 am-4 pm each weekday.  Each member of the CVCC is featured in the directory, making it a great business-to-business reference.  Call (805) 684-5479x10 with questions.

*Take A Swing to Improve Your Business:  The CVCC is excited to announce its ‘Cox Business 15th Annual Golf Tournament,’ slated for Thurs., Sept 16,  @ the beautiful Glen Annie Golf Club, Frog Bar & Grill Patio in Goleta.  Various levels of sponsorships are available & volunteers are needed throughout the day & into the evening.  The after golf festivities include a delicious home-style BBQ, raffle prizes galore, live music, a silent & live auction, plus an awards ceremony.  This is a great way for you & your business to be seen by potential clients & colleagues.  Go to www.carpinteriachamber.org, to find out more, or call 684-5479x11 about volunteering & sponsorships.  You may also send an email to lynda@carpinteriachamber.org.  A portion of the tourney proceeds will go to the Jr. Carpinterian Scholarship Fund.

*Update on State & Federal Bills:  The Chamber Alliance of Santa Barbara & Ventura Counties (CCA) provides information on current bills that have been introduced into legislation, which may affect your business.  Some bills have been defeated, some are still being considered for passage.  To stay current, log onto www.chamberalliance.biz/, and check out the latest updates.
