The Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the Audacious Book Challenge (ABC) beginning June 1st thru July 31st, 2019.
The Chamber Board of Directors are challenging the Chamber Ambassadors to collect as many new and used books as possible to be donated to the Friends of the Library, Carpinteria Children’s Project (CCP), and the Carpinteria Unified School District (CUSD).
“The purpose of the ABC is to encourage community members to clean out their closets, bookshelves, garages, and storage units and donate their books to those that would benefit from the knowledge gained from reading” states Joyce Donaldson, President and CEO of the Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce. As Garrison Keillor stated “A book is a gift you can open again and again”.
The ABC is a worthwhile community outreach initiative for our Chamber Leadership Teams to contact friends, family, and colleagues with each team competing to stockpile the most books. “With a goal of collecting 500+ books, the Leadership Team has their work cut out for them” says Donaldson.
Distribution of the books will take place in August, just in time for the beginning of the School Year and will be evenly distributed to the Friends of the Library, CCP, and CUSD.
The winning Leadership Team will be honored at the Chamber’s Legislative Breakfast on August 9th at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Books can be picked up by Board Members or Ambassadors or can be dropped off at the Chamber office at 1056 Eugenia Place, Suite B, Carpinteria, CA 93013. Simply call the Chamber office at 805.684.5479 or firstname.lastname@example.org
